EXPLORE A LIVING COSTA RICAN FINCA

Continue through the finca among medicinal plants, herbs and tropical vegetation traditionally used by Costa Rican families.

Discover the plants growing around you, their traditional uses and some of the local knowledge that has been passed from one generation to another.

Then the experience becomes hands-on.

You help collect fresh ingredients directly from the finca — ingredients that will later become part of your dinner.

FROM THE FINCA TO THE KITCHEN

Take what you have collected into the kitchen and become part of the preparation.

Work with fresh ingredients, discover traditional Costa Rican cooking techniques and help prepare local food, including traditional picadillo.

NIGHT WILDLIFE ADVENTURE

Enter the rainforest after dark with your guide.

Move slowly, listen carefully and search among the vegetation, trees and forest floor for the creatures that become active after sunset.

Depending on what nature reveals that evening, you may encounter red-eyed tree frogs, sloths, snakes, frogs, insects, reptiles and other nocturnal wildlife.

No two evenings are exactly the same.

Wildlife lives freely in its natural environment. Sightings depend on weather, season, temperature and natural animal activity and therefore specific wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed.

That unpredictability is part of experiencing a real, living rainforest.

HANDMADE TORTILLAS, PATACONES & DINNER

After your night wildlife adventure, return to the kitchen and complete the experience.

Prepare traditional tortillas palmeadas by hand, finish the patacones and complete the meal you began preparing earlier.

Your experience begins with hotel pickup at approximately 12:45 PM. Leave the resort behind and travel toward the finca for an afternoon and evening immersed in Costa Rican nature, flavors and traditions.

From Cacao Tree to Chocolate

Walk through the cacao plantation and discover where chocolate truly begins. See cacao growing on the tree, open a fresh pod and learn about its transformation into chocolate.

Explore the Living Finca & Harvest Ingredients

Walk among medicinal plants, herbs and tropical vegetation while discovering their traditional uses. Then collect fresh ingredients from the finca that will later become part of your dinner.

Cook Like a Costa Rican

Take what you have gathered into the kitchen and participate in preparing traditional Costa Rican food using fresh ingredients and local techniques.

Sunset — The Rainforest Changes

As the food cooks and daylight begins to fade, experience the transformation of the rainforest as new sounds emerge and nocturnal life begins to awaken.

Night Wildlife Adventure

With flashlights in hand, enter the rainforest with your guide and search for the creatures that become active after dark.

Tortillas, Patacones & Dinner

Return to the kitchen, prepare traditional tortillas palmeadas by hand, finish the patacones and sit down to enjoy the Costa Rican dinner you helped create.

Return to Your Hotel

At approximately 10:00 PM, begin the return to your hotel after an afternoon and evening that connects cacao, local traditions, cooking and rainforest wildlife into one authentic Costa Rican experience.
